With a fully equipped kitchen and views to die for, we know you might not want to leave Otby once you arrive. However, if you do decide to explore the local area, you’ll be well rewarded. From cosy pubs and scenic walks to great coffee spots and historic market towns, the Lincolnshire Wolds offers plenty to discover right on our doorstep.

Whether you’re looking for a simple coffee, a relaxed lunch, or a full blown Sunday roast, here are some of our favourite local recommendations.

Local Pub & Restaurant Favourites

The Blacksmiths Arms, Rothwell
Our personal favourite for lunch or supper is The Blacksmiths Arms in Rothwell. This welcoming local pub serves delicious, home-cooked food using seasonal ingredients. The menu changes throughout the year, but you’re always guaranteed something tempting — perfect after a day exploring the Wolds.

The King’s Head, Tealby
If you’re after a scenic walk followed by a rewarding pub lunch, The King’s Head at Tealby is a fantastic choice. Enjoy a stunning walk across the Viking Way, taking in classic Lincolnshire Wolds countryside along the way. There are a few ups and downs, but the views — and the food — make it well worth the effort.

Coffee Stops & Casual Bites

For great coffee and homemade bakes, Caistor has several excellent options. Helz Kitchen and Ted’s Coffee Shop both offer delicious treats, whether you want to sit in or grab something to take away.

Heading towards Lincoln? Stop off at the ever-popular Seven Districts Coffee House, a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike as well as The March Hare in Market Rasen.

Days Out a Little Further Afield

Lincoln Cathedral Quarter
If you fancy venturing a little further, the Lincoln Cathedral Quarter is a must-visit. Explore the magnificent Lincoln Cathedral and enjoy a fantastic selection of independent cafés, restaurants, and bars set among historic streets.

Louth – A Market Town Worth the Drive
Just a 25-minute drive over the top of the Wolds, Louth is a vibrant market town full of independent eateries. It’s also home to two gin distilleries and a local brewery, all of which offer tours and special events that are well worth booking in advance. A brilliant option for a full day out.
